What FTMO Futures Is

FTMO built its name on forex and CFD challenges. Futures is a separate product with its own rules: you trade CME markets on live data in a simulated evaluation, hit the profit target, and move to an FTMO Sim-Funded Account where you earn payouts. The best performers can be invited to an FTMO Live Funded Account.

The evaluation is billed monthly, not as a one-time fee. There is no activation fee when you pass, no official minimum number of trading days and no time limit - you keep paying monthly until you pass or cancel.

From Evaluation to Live Funded: The 3 Steps

  1. Evaluation

Hit the profit target while staying inside the max drawdown. Pro also has a hard daily loss limit, and the consistency rule caps your best day at 40% of profit on Growth and 50% on Pro. You can run as many evaluations as you want at once - each one is its own monthly subscription - and a reset costs less than a new account.

  2. Sim-Funded Account

No profit target and no consistency rule. The max drawdown still applies, Growth gets a soft daily loss limit and Pro keeps a hard one. You keep 90% and can request a payout every 4 days on Growth or every 5 on Pro, up to the cap. You can hold up to 3 sim-funded accounts at once, shared across Growth and Pro.

  3. Live Funded Account

Not automatic - FTMO invites you after it validates your sim-funded trading. The only rule left is the max drawdown.

    • Clear a one-time buffer before the first payout
    • Then request payouts daily with no payout cap, still at 90/10
    • A market data fee applies, with one exchange covered by FTMO

Because this is a subscription, the real cost is the monthly price times however long you take to pass. A 50K Growth passed in the first month is $119. Drag it into a third month and it is $357. Compare that with one-time evaluations elsewhere - the price list has every 50K side by side - before deciding speed does not matter to you.

FTMO Futures vs Lucid and Tradeify at 50K

All four accounts target $3,000 on a 50K with an EOD drawdown and no activation fee. The differences are price, daily loss limit and consistency.

Lucid and Tradeify prices are with code FPF. Check billing terms on each firm before you buy.

Lucid Flex and Tradeify Growth both come in under FTMO's first month, and Tradeify has no consistency rule in the evaluation. FTMO's case is the brand, Growth's eval with no daily loss limit, Pro's $3,000 drawdown and the path to a live account with daily, uncapped payouts. Full details on the Lucid Trading and Tradeify pages.

The Rule That Sets Your Real Minimum Days

FTMO lists no minimum trading days, but the evaluation consistency rule does the job anyway. It caps your best day as a share of total profit:

  • Growth, 40% cap: no single day can be more than 40% of the target, so you need at least 3 profitable days. On a 50K that means no day above $1,200 of the $3,000.
  • Pro, 50% cap: you need at least 2 profitable days. On a 50K, no day above $1,500.

Once you are sim-funded, the consistency rule is gone on both plans.

Drawdown and Daily Loss

Both plans use an EOD trailing drawdown: it only moves at the close, so an open trade that runs up and gives it back intraday does not drag your floor up. It also locks once it has trailed far enough, and there is no intraday trailing option at all.

The daily loss limit is where the plans split:

  • Growth has no daily loss limit in the evaluation. On the sim-funded account it adds a soft limit - $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000 by size - which stops you for the day without failing the account.
  • Pro has a hard daily loss limit in both phases - $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000 by size. Breach it and the account fails.

On target to drawdown, Pro is the more forgiving plan: the 50K is 1 : 1 ($3,000 target on $3,000 drawdown), against 1 : 1.5 on the 50K Growth. To see how that stacks up, the Prop Firm Finder lines up every evaluation by drawdown and price.

How Payouts Work

Minimum withdrawal$20$20
New profit for next request50% of the requested amount50% of the requested amount
Max concurrent accounts33

A quick example on a 50K. Say you are $3,000 up on the sim-funded account. On Growth you can request 50% - $1,500 - and keep 90%, so $1,350 lands. On Pro you can request the full $3,000 under the $5,000 cap and keep $2,700. That gap is the whole argument for paying $20 a month more.

One catch on Pro: FTMO itself warns that a full withdrawal can put a Pro sim-funded account in breach of the max drawdown, so check the payout calculator in the client area before you pull 100%.

Forbidden Trading Practices: What Gets You Flagged

FTMO's futures rulebook goes further than most firms. Breaking it can mean removed trades, a closed account, lost payouts or a permanent ban. The ones that matter most day to day:

  • No overnight holds. Every position and resting order must be closed before the end of the trading day, which runs from 6:00 p.m. ET to 4:10 p.m. ET the next day. Anything left open is liquidated automatically.
  • No new positions within 2% of the CME daily price limit for that contract.
  • Use your own stop. The account's drawdown protection cannot be your only exit.
  • No hedging across accounts. Opposite positions across FTMO accounts, other firms or with other traders are banned, even in correlated contracts. Opposite positions on a single account are fine.
  • No copying other traders. Signal services, trade copiers and master accounts are out. Copying across your own accounts is allowed if every account follows the rules on its own.
  • Bots are allowed, but not high-frequency strategies or latency arbitrage.
  • Trade the same way in every phase. Sudden size jumps, trading mostly around scheduled news or trading differently once funded can be treated as a risk-management breach.
  • Stay active. A sim-funded account with no trades for 30 days in a row is closed. There is no inactivity rule on the live account.

Which Plan Should You Pick?

Pick Growth if

  • You want the cheapest way in at $119 a month
  • You hate daily loss limits during an eval
  • You can spread profit over 3+ days anyway
  • You are fine building the account before pulling big payouts

Pick Pro if

  • You want to withdraw everything you make
  • You like the 1 : 1 target to drawdown on the 50K
  • You already trade with a hard daily stop
  • You plan to take larger payouts, up to $8,000 a request

The Catches

  • Monthly billing. Slow passes get expensive fast.
  • Flat every day. No swing or overnight positions, ever.
  • Three sim-funded accounts max. Firms like Apex let you stack up to 20 - compare in the Prop Firm Finder.
  • Growth only pays out half of your profit per request.
  • Pro's hard daily limit can end an evaluation on one bad session.
  • The live account is invite-only and adds a market data fee.

What Comes With Every Account

  • No activation fee, no official minimum trading days and no time limit
  • No consistency rule once you are sim-funded
  • Unlimited evaluations at once, up to $450,000 across 3 sim-funded accounts
  • News trading allowed
  • Automated trading allowed, within the rules above
  • Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView
  • 24/7 support

FTMO Futures FAQ

Does FTMO offer futures prop trading?

Yes. FTMO now runs futures evaluations on CME markets alongside its forex and CFD challenges. There are two plans, Growth and Pro, each in 50K, 100K and 150K sizes, billed as a monthly subscription with no activation fee.

How much does FTMO futures cost?

Growth is $119, $169 and $229 a month for the 50K, 100K and 150K. Pro is $139, $199 and $269 a month. Resets cost $109, $159 and $219 on Growth and $129, $189 and $259 on Pro. There is no activation fee on either plan.

What is the difference between FTMO Growth and Pro?

Growth is cheaper and has no daily loss limit in the evaluation, but a smaller drawdown, a 40% consistency rule, 50% withdrawals per request and payout caps of $2,500 to $4,000. Pro costs more and adds a hard daily loss limit, but gives a bigger drawdown, a 50% consistency rule, 100% withdrawals and payout caps of $5,000 to $8,000.

Does FTMO futures have a consistency rule?

Only in the evaluation. Growth caps your best day at 40% of total profit and Pro at 50%. Once you are on the sim-funded account there is no consistency rule on either plan.

Does FTMO futures have a minimum number of trading days?

Not officially, and there is no time limit either. The consistency rule sets a minimum for you: with a 40% cap on Growth you need at least 3 profitable days to pass, and with the 50% cap on Pro you need at least 2.

What drawdown does FTMO futures use?

EOD trailing drawdown that locks once it trails far enough - there is no intraday trailing. Growth drawdown is $2,000, $3,500 and $5,000 by size, Pro is $3,000, $4,500 and $6,000.

Can you hold positions overnight with FTMO futures?

No. Every position and resting order must be closed before the end of the trading day, which runs from 6:00 p.m. ET to 4:10 p.m. ET the next day. Anything still open at the close is liquidated automatically.

How do FTMO futures payouts work?

The split is 90/10 on both plans. Growth pays every 4 days once you have 4 days of $150, $250 or $300 profit depending on size, and you can withdraw 50% of profit per request up to the cap. Pro pays every 5 days after 5 days of $200, $300 or $500, and you can withdraw 100% up to the cap. The minimum withdrawal is $20, and each new request needs fresh profit of at least 50% of the amount you ask for.

What is the FTMO futures Live Funded Account?

It is the step after sim-funded, offered by invitation only once FTMO validates your sim-funded trading. You clear a one-time buffer before the first payout, then you can request payouts daily with no cap at a 90/10 split. A market data fee applies, with one exchange covered by FTMO.

How many FTMO futures accounts can I run at once?

There is no limit on evaluations, and each one runs on its own monthly subscription. You can hold up to 3 sim-funded accounts at the same time, shared across Growth and Pro.

Is copy trading allowed at FTMO futures?

Only across your own accounts, as long as each account follows every rule on its own. Copying another trader through signals, trade copiers or master accounts is forbidden, and so is hedging opposite positions across accounts.

Which platforms can I use with FTMO futures?

Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView. News trading is allowed on both plans.
